2010 marked Penguin’s 55th anniversary and it was aptly celebrated with limited editions galore of the Penguin staple “The 55” Polo.

Penguin has proven time and time again that they are a mainstay in men’s style and by sticking to their simple origins, are blazing a trail that’s often copied but never quite matched. We love the heritage trend that’s sweeping through men’s fashion for its clean cut simplicity and if that isn’t Penguin through and through, then we don’t know what is.

We’ve really enjoyed the sporadic hot spells, overcast mugginess, sunny/showery intervals and all that South Manchester’s unpredictable weather has had to throw at us lately. So while we’re fully advocating you start revealing your summer bod and wardrobe, we thought a moment of sense wouldn’t go astray.

Fortunately, we received our Style-Spy’s full blessing to go global with this and we assure you this is a legit tip. Ready? Wait for it… Raincoats! Well, at very least a stylish, retro style jacket. Lightweight of course so as not to render you hot-under-the-collar and helpless lest you find yourself caught in a sun storm!

Remember our Baracuta G4 Project 137 a little while ago? Well here’s another beaut from the iconic Mancunian brand. The Baracuta Winstone G36 Anorak is a great lightweight option when you simply can’t tell which way its going to swing. Typical harrington style as standard, you’ll brave the elements with an air of Manc class.

I honestly can’t believe it’s my favourite time of year already. The New Year isn’t just an excuse to party into the wee hours but also signifies the start of new collections and better still, my annual jaunt to the continent in search of the next big thing. It reminds me of why I got into this racket in the first place and all the hard work is suddenly well worth it.

Last year, I discovered Armor-Lux, a brand that I was proud to introduce to South Manchester. You may have seen a small sample in our winter collection both in store and online. Boasting a collection that oozes originality, Armor-Lux prides itself not only on production quality, but on maintaining a stylish, nautically inspired range that sits right there with the best of them. It must be said; my resolve was strengthened when I saw the Breton Patrimony wardrobe last month – the collaboration between Armor-Lux and Norse Projects for fashion powerhouse Colette, Paris – yes, we’re in good company.

We’re eagerly awaiting the new range of Ash shoes.

Their Autumn/winter collection is attracting some serious press attention, with the likes of Madonna having been snapped wearing the latest Ash creations. Apparently her fave is the Thelma Nappa Vintage ankle boot (pictured), which is right on trend for next season.
